The 31st Regional Conference on Solid State Science and Technology (RCSSST 2022) concluded successfully on September 8, 2022, at Hotel Perdana in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The event, organized by the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and the Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Association (MASS), marked the first time MASS held an event in Kelantan since its establishment in 1991.

The conference began with an online pre-conference workshop on September 6, 2022, featuring main sponsors Bruker Nanoanalytics and Novatiq Scientific. The official seminar took place from September 7-8, 2022, with the opening ceremony officiated by UMK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razli Che Razak.

A special dinner, “31st RCSSST 2022 Dinner and MASS Awards,” was held to celebrate the participants and recognize outstanding MASS members. The hybrid seminar, the largest of its kind in Kelantan, had 207 participants from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Finland, Nigeria, South Korea, and all over Malaysia.

Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Han Sang-Wook from Jeonbuk National University Jeonju, along with six plenary speakers and 11 invited speakers, contributed to the event’s success. All sessions were accessible for free through UMK’s interactive website and the official Facebook page of the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology.

The organizing committee expressed gratitude to UMK management, sponsors, and all participants for their support and cooperation in making RCSSST 2022 a success. They also extended thanks to Sinar Harian for covering the event and apologized for any mistakes or shortcomings during the conference. The experience and knowledge gained from leading the robust RCSSST 2022 team will remain a lasting memory for the organizers.
