1st March - 18th April 2024
Online and UMK

The programme this time was held in two stages; the screening stage will take place from March 18 to 31 virtually online and the final stage will take place on April 18, 2024 at UMK Jeli Campus. The 2-hour final competition was broadcast live on UMK's social media and officiated by Prof. Dato' Dr. Razli Bin Che Razak, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. With two categories contested, namely the high school category and the elementary school category, the program provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and skills in construction and design in the Minecraft virtual environment. The Kelaboran Tiger group from Sekolah Kebangsaan Kelaboran was crowned the champion in the primary school category, while the Arc Scissor group from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kangkong won the secondary school category.

The theme chosen for the screening stage was 'Green and Smart City', which encouraged participants to plan and build a sustainable smart city, while the theme of 'Smart Hospital' in the final stage emphasised the importance of sophisticated and responsive health facilities. These two themes not only challenge students' imaginations but also increase their awareness of important global issues such as sustainability and innovation in healthcare.

The organisation of this programme would not have been possible without the support of various parties. Tenaga National Berhad, Microsoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd, RizuNads Creative Production, and Spring Production & Art Sdn Bhd have made invaluable contributions as sponsors of this programme. Their contributions not only provide a platform for students to express their creativity but also prove their commitment to the development of education and technology in Malaysia.

UMK Minecraft Edu Challenge 2024 is an impactful program in 21st century education, where it paves the way for students to learn while playing, hone critical skills, and prepare them to become future thinkers and innovators. The programme also demonstrates how collaboration between educational institutions and industry can create valuable learning opportunities and inspire the younger generation to reach their potential. With the success of the program, we can expect more similar initiatives to emerge, taking education to a higher level and more dynamic.
