A2) MODE OF STUDY

Both the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs are offered in Research Mode.

 

 

 

A3) ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Master of Science

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 or equivalent as approved by the Senate; or
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and less than 2.75 and is subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
  3. A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and less than 2.50 and must have a minimum of five (5) years working experience in relevant field and is subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
  4. Any qualification not in related fields or relevant working experience, but is required to complete prerequisite courses approved by the Senate and must fulfill a minimum CGPA as in Regulation 3.1.1(a)(i), (ii), or (iii); or
  5. Any other qualifications allowed by the Authorised Body from time to time.

Doctor of Philosophy

  1. A Master’s Degree in the field or related fields approved by the Senate; or
  2. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia; or
  3. Any qualification not in related field or relevant working experience and must undergo prerequisite courses approved by the Senate; or
  4. A Bachelor’s Degree with first-class (CGPA of 3.67 or higher) or its equivalent in the field or related fields and is subject to internal assessment and any other requirements approved by the Senate; or
  5. Any other qualifications allowed by the Authorised Body from time to time.

 

 

 

A4) DURATION OF STUDY

Master of Science
  • A typical duration of study shall be two (2) years for a full-time student and three (3) years for a part-time student. 
  • For a full-time student, the minimum duration of study shall be one (1) year and the maximum shall be three (3) years.
  • For a part-time student, the minimum duration of study shall be two (2) years and the maximum shall be four (4) years. 
Doctor of Philosophy
  • A typical duration of study shall be three (3) years for a full-time student and four (4) years for a part- time student.
  • For a full-time student, the minimum duration of study shall be two (2) years and the maximum shall be five (5) years.
  • For a part-time student, the minimum duration of study shall be four (4) years and the maximum shall be six (6) years.

C2) FINANCIAL AID

SPONSORSHIP OFFER FOR MYBRAIN 2.0 PROGRAM, MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2024/2025

The sponsorship offer for the MyBrain 2.0 Program is now open from August 1, 2024. This program is open to the general public who are not working or do not have a fixed income and lecturers from selected Private Higher Education Institutes to further their studies at the Master’s Degree and Doctorate Degree level at Public Universities in the country for the academic session 2024/2025.

Fields of study: (i) Priority in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (ii) Social Sciences and Specialized Literature

This sponsorship is given to those who have received a full / unconditional offer letter from IPT or have started full-time studies at selected IPTs. For applicants who have been studying, the remaining study period is at least 12 months for the Master’s Degree level and 24 months for the Doctorate Degree level in Semester 1, Session 2024/2025.
